About me

I originally came from Tasmania..a Taswegian born and bred...and no, I do not have 2 heads.

I lived in Tasmania all my life until 1992 when we moved to Queensland because my husband's, (Ian) company that he worked for was sold to a Queensland company. We lived in Queensland for 5 years and loved it except for the heat and humidity in summer.
When Ian's work closed down in 1994, we stayed put until our eldest daughter got married in 1996. Going home for the wedding made us rather homesick, so in 1997 we, including our youngest daughter and her two and a half year old son, sold everything and headed home to Tassie.

Well, we didn't get very far before we had car problems and managed to limp along to a little place in Northern New South Wales called Broadwater on the Pacific Highway about 25 kilometres south of Ballina. There we found a caravan park that allowed pets (I had a little Chihuahua called Rani) and we stayed there until we could get the car fixed.

Hmm...we liked it so much there that we stayed for 5 years! We stayed in the caravan park for 2 years and that was a culture shock...lol, but the majority of people there, both permanent residents and the casuals who came through were great people and we became very good friends with the owner. We used to help him with the cleaning around the park and in time he was able to take a short break, the first he had managed to have in many years, while we looked after the park for him...now that was an experience.

We made some good friends in the time we lived there and have kept in contact ever since.

When the owner sold the caravan park, we decided it was time to move, so we found a house to rent in Woodburn, about 5 kilometres down the highway. A nice little town and we started volunteering at the Salvation Army Family Store where we made more good friends. Of course the time came when our daughter wanted to move out on her own, so she found a house in Wardell which was about 10 kilometres north of Woodburn. Now these distances may be way out as I am hopeless at judging distance.

To cut a long, long story short, in 2002 when our eldest daughter was expecting her third child I decided it was time to go home to Tassie. So after 10 years of living interstate, 5 in Queensland and 5 in Northern NSW, we went "home". And there we stayed until 2010 when we moved to Ballarat and love it here except for the cold winters, the rain and the wind....lol....but the weather is very similar to Hobart so I guess we are used to it.

And that is pretty much it!!
